While practicing pump foiling from shore, he spotted a fishing boat crossing the bay and attempted to intercept its wake. His first efforts ended with missed rollers, exhausted legs, and several accusations that the boat captains had changed speed just to ruin his timing.
After enough failed attempts, Jett learned that boat wake foiling required patience, observation, and careful positioning. He studied hull speed, wake shape, travel direction, and the time each roller took to reach shore. With a clean dock start, a strong diagonal pump line, and enough remaining momentum, he could meet the second or third wake safely and let the moving water accelerate his boat wake hydrofoil.
Jett now searches lakes and sheltered bays for passing boat wakes that produce clean, organized rollers. His signature move, the Cross-Bay Heist, combines shore launch foiling, accurate wake timing, and efficient foil pumping to connect with an outer swell and ride it across open water. Follow these tips when applying stickers: Apply the sticker to a clean, dust-free, oil-free, and moisture-free surface. After application, press the sticker down with a clean cloth to maximize the sticker’s ability to stick to the surface and avoid air bubbles. Make sure that the sticker is applied correctly the first time. With every reapplication, the sticker’s ability to stick will decrease. Apply the sticker to a flat surface only. If applied on items that bend, are round, or in a cylinder form, we can’t guarantee its ability to hold.
