The Monster-Sized Story
Geoffrey Kohler’s streak represents more than two decades of continuous commitment to sit-down foiling. Beginning in March 2003, he has completed at least one sit-down hydrofoil ride every week without missing a week, creating an ongoing streak of 1,196 consecutive weeks, and is still active.
This record is measured by uninterrupted weekly participation. To keep the streak alive, only one qualifying sitdown foiling ride is required within each week, but no week can be missed. Because Geoffrey’s streak is still open-ended, the Foiling Freaks World Records database stores the start date and calculates the current streak length dynamically whenever the record pages or statistics are generated.
Rules of the Beast
The rider must complete at least one qualifying sit-down hydrofoil ride during every week of the streak. A streak begins on the recorded start date of the continuous weekly riding period. The streak remains active as long as the rider continues sit-down foiling at least once each week without interruption. If a rider misses a week without completing a qualifying sitdown hydrofoil ride, the streak ends. For active streaks, no end date is entered. The total streak duration is calculated dynamically from the start date to the current rebuild date of the records database. For completed streaks, an end date is entered, and the final streak duration is calculated from the start date through the end date. The record metric is the total number of consecutive weeks in the streak. Only sit-down hydrofoil riding qualifies for this series. Other forms of foiling do not count toward the streak. One qualifying ride in a week is sufficient to keep the streak active. Additional rides in the same week do not increase the streak count beyond that week.
