Monster Council Approval

Mara monster approval

Mara, along with the foiling community at large, has given this glorious achievement the official Foiling Freaks nod for Beachstarting.

May it inspire better evidence, cleaner runs, bigger claims, and even louder hooting from the crowd.

The Tale From the Foil Vault

A WSL social post dated June 15, 2018 presented beach starts on a foil and named Josh Dagram alongside Eric Sterman and Makai Creative. Josh Dagram's own public profile later reposted that beach-start moment under the nickname AMUNDSTART. Later Foiling World and anniversary-style community posts explicitly credited 2018 as the year Josh Dagram did the first beach start ever and referred to the group as the crew that started the beach start. For Foiling Freaks purposes, this creates the strongest public credit trail I found for the first recognized beach start in pump foiling. The underlying historical idea should still remain open to revision if an earlier dated and equally clear beach-start source surfaces.

Rules of the Beast

Tracks the first publicly documented beach-start pump-foil achievement where the rider launches from a shoreline or shallow-water run-up, mounts the foil board without a dock, tow, wind power, boat pull, winch, or other external launch assist or platform, and transitions into clear hydrofoil flight under rider power. The public source should show or explicitly describe a beach start, identify the rider, and support the claimed firstness through a direct claim, a historical attribution, or a clearly dated early publication. Foiling Freaks records this as a community first and may revise the entry if earlier documented examples surface.

How This Got the Nod

Public source trail includes the June 15, 2018 WSL post plus later Foiling World and anniversary captions explicitly crediting Josh Dagram and the beach-start crew.

Video Proof From the Vault

Josh Dagram is the earliest explicit public credit trail found for a beach start in pump foiling, anchored by a June 15, 2018 WSL post and later community attribution.
