NorthStar SailGP Team and Quiksilver social posts describe Quiksilver athlete Matt Etxebarne being towed behind the NorthStar SailGP Team F50 race boat in Halifax. The posts call it a world first and report a top speed of 31.7 knots. This is published as the first documented foilboard rider tow behind a hydrofoil race boat. It should not be published as an overall foilboard speed world record unless a separate speed category, timing method, and comparison field are created. Other foiling disciplines have recorded higher top speeds (windfoiling and unofficially sit-down foiling).

Rules of the Beast
Rider must be on a stand-up foil board and be towed directly behind an active hydrofoil race boat or official training/race boat setup. The entry must identify the team/boat, rider, location, and reported speed or comparable evidence. This is classified as a freestyle / stunt world first for the tow setup, not as a tow-in wave entry and not as an overall foilboard speed world record unless a separate speed-record ruleset and independent timing standard are established. Speed is tracked as a straight line tow speed (not accellerating faster than the tow boat when cutting across the wake).
