Backstory

Ziggy wasn't made for waiting. Not for tide charts. Not for boat drivers. Not for wind forecasts. Not even for that awkward moment where everyone stands around staring at the water pretending they're “warming up.” Ziggy wanted instant flight.

So he did what anyone-eyed, green-fuzzed, chaos-positive monster would do: he found an efoil, made friends with the throttle, and immediately declared himself Captain of the No-Excuses Crew. But the real twist? Ziggy doesn't ride alone.

One day, cruising a glassy stretch offshore, Ziggy heard a strange splashing behind him, like something small was trying to chase the board but kept getting left in the bubbles. He circled back and found a tiny horned monster dog paddling like its life depended on it, tongue out, eyes wide, full send.

Ziggy slowed down, reached out a furry hand, and said: “You wanna fly?” The pup barked once (a sound suspiciously like a squeaky toy being attacked), climbed onto the front of the board, and never looked back. That was the birth of Munch Zoomfang, the world's first monster dog who thinks efoiling is a dog park, but better.

If you spot a green fuzzy cyclops on an efoil with a horned monster dog posted on the nose like a tiny maniacal pirate, don't worry.

That's just Ziggy Throttlegrin and Munch Zoomfang, cruising the coastline, stealing hearts, and proving that efoiling is better with a co-pilot who lives for the spray.

Ziggy Sparks's Foiling Discipline

Ziggy Sparks is into eFoiling - An electrically powered hydrofoil board that allows riders to fly above the water without wind or waves or to get to and from waves for unpowered riding. Click the link for more information about the sport.

First Flight

Ziggy's first real flight didn't happen on a perfect day with a clean launch and a polite safety talk. It happened the moment he realized an efoil remote is basically a “skip the waiting” button. He waddled onto an electric foil board, stared at the mast like it was a secret elevator, and squeezed the throttle with the confidence of a monster who has never once considered consequences. The board surged, the electric hydrofoil lifted, and Ziggy made a sound that was half-laugh, half-rocket ignition.

Munch Zoomfang joined the legend minutes later, after Ziggy looped back and found him paddling like a tiny sea-dragon with a to-do list. One nose-hop, one snorty bark, and suddenly their efoil board had a co-pilot. The first time they rose onto foil together, Ziggy shouted, “WE'RE FLYING!” and Munch tried to bite the spray as it owed him money.

Personality

Ziggy is pure forward momentum: hype, optimism, and an unshakable belief that “just one more run” fixes everything. He's the friend who turns casual efoil cruising into a full-blown adventure story with a dramatic title and a heroic ending.

Munch is a living exclamation point. He's brave in the way only a creature with zero self-preservation can be, nose forward, paws planted, eyes wide, ready to challenge the ocean itself. If Ziggy is the captain, Munch is the flag on the bow, always snapping in the wind, always demanding more.

Favorite Conditions

Their ideal session is a glassy stretch with room to roam, calm water where the foil feels like it's floating in silence. Ziggy loves long, smooth lines that let him build confidence and settle into that steady efoil speed sweet spot. Munch loves anything that makes spray: tiny wind ripples, boat wakes, even a suspicious-looking chop line that he can stare down like a rival.

If it's too bouncy, Ziggy adjusts and keeps it playful with tighter turns and mellow efoil carving. If it's too calm, Munch gets offended, like the ocean forgot to entertain him, and starts barking at the horizon until Ziggy “fixes” it by going farther.

Ziggy & Munch's Code

  • Throttle first, doubt never.
  • Respect the foil - confidence is good, control is better.
  • Keep the efoil battery happy: no hero runs when you're already on the low-beep warning.
  • The nose is sacred territory. Munch stands there because teamwork is aerodynamic (and also hilarious).
  • Every session ends with gratitude: to the water, the wind, and the monster who didn't drop the remote.

Beginner Tips

  • Start slower than your ego wants. The best efoil beginner progress comes from smooth, steady throttle, not sudden jumps.
  • Treat the foil like a flying object, not a surfboard. Small shifts matter in hydrofoiling, so keep your stance calm and your knees soft.
  • Make friends with your efoil gear early: leash setup, helmet/impact vest, and knowing where your cutoff switch lives. That's real efoil safety, not paranoia.
  • Keep your remote hand relaxed; white-knuckling the efoil remote usually turns into over-correcting.
  • Protect your power source. If you're transporting or swapping packs, handle the efoil battery case carefully and keep everything clean and dry before you seal it up.
  • And if you can, take a few efoil lessons, even one session with a good coach can save you weeks of trial-and-splash. Ziggy won't admit it, but he secretly loves anything that gets him flying sooner.

Preferred Ride

Ziggy and Munch are all-in on efoiling, because it's the perfect mix of:

  • Silent glide
  • Smooth speed
  • And the ability to go from “standing still” to “flying” in one ridiculous second

They specialize in long cruises, playful carving, and making absolutely sure everyone within eyesight hears the sacred efoil call:

“Wooooooo!” (mostly Ziggy)

“AAAAAA!” (mostly Munch)

What Makes Them Ziggy and Munch

Ziggy is the hype monster. He's always laughing, always pointing at the horizon like it's hiding treasure, and always trying to convince you that the next run should be “just a little farther.”

Munch is the chaos mascot. He stands at the nose like a figurehead, tongue flapping in the wind, acting like every ripple is a personal challenge. If the board banks into a carve, Munch leans harder. If there's spray, he tries to bite it. If the battery beeps low, he looks personally offended.

Signature Move

The Double-Dare Carve: Ziggy leans into a smooth S-turn, and Munch counters by shifting forward, paws planted, eyes locked, like he's steering with pure enthusiasm. When they nail it, Ziggy throws a fist in the air, and Munch does a full-body wiggle that should not be physically possible at speed.

Fun Facts

  • Ziggy names every session like it's a movie: “Operation Smooth Water.”
  • Munch believes flying is normal and swimming is optional.
  • Ziggy carries a spare remote because he once dropped one mid-hoot.
  • Munch's official job title is “Nose Captain / Snack Security.”

Ziggy & Munch's Motto

“Ziggy: “Why paddle when you can throttle?”

Munch: “BARK BARK BARK!” (translation: “MORE SPEED, ZIG.”)
