The Story Behind the Record

TotalSUP reported that Zane Schweitzer won the inaugural SUP Foil category race in the 26 mile Pailolo Channel crossing from Maui to Molokai during the 2018 M2M Crossing, setting a new channel crossing record time and winning the overall classification ahead of traditional outriggers, surf skis, and unlimited SUPs. A separate SURF report later stated the time as 2 hours 24 minutes. The accounts describe a true course benchmark rather than a casual session, and they also preserve useful context about one of the first major competitive SUP foil channel events.

Rules of the Beast

Track the lowest elapsed time publicly reported for a SUP foil crossing of the Maui to Molokai M2M race route across the Pailolo Channel. The effort should be described by a reputable source as a channel crossing benchmark or record time. The rider must complete the route on a stand-up paddle hydrofoil and the source should state the elapsed time or directly support conversion into minutes.

How This Got the Nod

Record claim supported by TotalSUP; elapsed time value supported by SURF's follow-up report.
