The Monster-Sized Story
The official M2O records table marks Edo Tanas' 2025 men's foil champion time of 1:56:55 as the record. That makes it the current benchmark in this Foiling Freaks race-course series as of the source review. The sub-two-hour time is a huge symbolic marker for a long and exposed Hawaiian channel crossing, but the database should still preserve the context: this is an official M2O course record, shaped by course rules and the year's conditions, not a generic downwind top-speed record.
Rules of the Beast
Eligible results must come from the official Molokai 2 Oahu Paddleboard World Championships foil division records or official race result publications. The attempt must be on the recognized Molokai to Oahu channel race course, with the athlete starting in the official foil start and finishing under event timing rules. Lower elapsed time wins. Official event requirements, such as board number stickers, race jerseys, GPS tracking backup, class wave starts, escort or unescorted safety rules, and finish-line athlete number communication, are treated as part of the record framework. Because the race course and annual conditions vary, these records are recorded as official race-course records, not as universal open-water speed records.
