In an April 16, 2025 Instagram post, Fred Bonnef stated that he completed the first SUP foil crossing between Europe and Africa, leaving Tarifa in Spain and reaching Ceuta on the African continent. The post gives a crossing time of 1 hour 23 minutes and a distance of 29 kilometers, and it openly identifies the attempt as a first.
