The Story Behind the Record
Lift Foils reported that its Thailand partners and Mentagram completed a 120 km open-ocean eFoil crossing on April 8, 2022. The group started near Ocean Marina Yacht Club in Pattaya and finished near Surfspot Hua Hin after a long day across the Gulf of Thailand. The article says the mission involved more than eight hours of riding time, multiple eFoilers, 10 batteries, and five boards. Khom, the CEO of Mentagram, is described as the lead solo rider who rode from start to finish, while a team format allowed other riders to change through the journey. The riders used LIFT3 Sport and Cruiser eFoils with 170 High Aspect front wings and 38 backs. For Foiling Freaks, this belongs in a multi-battery open-water crossing category rather than single-battery distance because the source clearly reports battery and board logistics.
Rules of the Beast
The crossing must be completed on motorized eFoils across an open-water route. Battery swaps and multiple boards may be allowed in this multi-battery category if the source clearly reports them. Support craft are allowed for safety and logistics, but the riders must travel on eFoils for the measured route.
