The Los Angeles Times later wrote that Mary Murphy set a world record for age and endurance in 2002 when, at age 84, she completed a 62-mile round-trip hydrofoil journey from Long Beach to Catalina Island and back in 5 hours and 17 minutes.
Rules of the Beast
Age is measured in completed years at the time of a documented sit-down hydrofoil ride. Rider must be female and riding a seated tow hydrofoil / Sky Ski or Air Chair-type sit-down hydrofoil.
