The Los Angeles Times obituary states that Mary Murphy made her last Catalina crossing in March 2007 to celebrate her 89th birthday and continued skiing until May. For the oldest-female age series, this is a later, directly documented age milestone than the earlier 84-year-old world-record account.
Rules of the Beast
Age is measured in completed years at the time of a documented sit-down hydrofoil ride. Rider must be female and riding a seated tow hydrofoil / Sky Ski or Air Chair-type sit-down hydrofoil.
