The Tale From the Foil Vault
Rob Wylie followed the English Channel achievement with another open-water mission in the Maldives. Foiling Magazine reported that he crossed from Raa Atoll to Noonu Atoll in October 2022 and set a new world record for the furthest distance travelled on a Fliteboard on a single battery in open water. The route was reported as 40 km, beating the earlier English Channel single-battery mark. The story describes choppy conditions, shallow reef concerns, and the importance of a support boat. The setup was reported as a Fliteboard Ultra with a Flow 1300 wing, Race stabiliser, and number 2 shim, and the account says Wylie finished with about 5 percent battery remaining.
Rules of the Beast
The rider must complete the distance on a motorized eFoil using one battery charge. Battery swaps, charging stops, tows, wind propulsion, and paddle-only sections are not allowed for this series. Support boats and safety escorts are allowed if they do not tow, push, or recharge the rider. Distance should be supported by GPS, route reporting, event documentation, or credible public coverage.
